Common Q's

Do you build for others?

Yes we do - but only for our students and if it feels right! We have to be very selective on who we build for and we require you to attend a full dome workshop first!

How much does a dome cost?

The dome themselves are cheap - property development and labor is not. Each dome ranges from 2K - 6K (finished) depending on size for just material cost. You will also need to invest in mixers, power, water & basic hand tools.

Where do you get the sandbags?

Superior Sandbags are the best quality and bang for your buck! 949-338-5978

Is my soil good for domes?

Most likely yes, domes can take really "bad" soil. The more sand and rock the better! And we always encourage to use at least 5% concrete.

How many people do you need to build a dome?

The magic number ranges between 7-15. We wouldn't build without 7 sets of hands!

Can I build my own after one workshop?

That's the goal! Most will have a really good idea of the concept as the building style is simple and easy to learn! We always encourage to build a small one first to get all the learning kinks out!

Whats the biggest earth dome you can build?

We would never build anything over 16ft in diameter. Trust us from your experienced dome builders - the amount of physical labor needed to put a 16t dome up is a lot - anything bigger isn't worth the trade off for the space. You're also limited by bag size. They don't make a bag big enough. Want a bigger space - try a different building style.

Can I build these in the tropics?

There are domes in every continent & climate in the world. You will need to adjust things for the foundations and consider adding a roof or beef up your plaster on the roof but short answer - yes.

How fast can you build a dome?

Anything 12ft and below we can put up in a week and finish with plaster in another month. Anything 12ft and above takes about 2 weeks and about 2 months to finish.
